Christmas is just around the corner and we’re going to take a short break from post production. For all of you who have been following us since the very beginning, here’s a quick post-production update:

Editing

We recently screened our latest rough cut and asked a few friends in the industry to give us their raw thoughts. Their feedback was specific and we think it’ll only make our documentary more compelling. Last week, we recorded narration, with voice over actor Karen Lyons, at Idle Tuesdays Recording Studio.

Sound

We’re using Jermaine Stegall original music cues. After a few more tweaks and edits, we should be good to go. We’re huge fans of his compositions. Our Sound Recordists did an amazing job during production (recording onto a Zoom H6 field recorder with a Rode NTG3 boom mic and Rode lavalier) which has made our post-production lives SO much simpler. We’re very pleased with the direction our sound is heading. We’ll be tackling Sound Design in the new year.

Color Correction

We’re not quite ready for color correction just yet, but since it’s quickly approaching, we wanted to mention it. We’ll be using DaVinci Resolve by Blackmagic.

Official Soundtrack

Our Official Soundtrack includes original music by Dale Becker (performed by Dennis Lamar, one of the Dads featured in our documentary), Adam Nelson, Caleb Henry, and Mykell Wilson. Last week, we sent off all of our final mixes to Becker Mastering.

Well, that about does it for today. We’ll be back in just a few weeks. From all of us, we wish you a Merry Christmas and encourage you take time to honor the men in your lives this holiday season.
