Emily Hibard with 4 time Grammy nominee Deanna Carter

Today was a great day! We had the opportunity to partner with the Recording Academy (Grammys), meet up with California Congressman Brad Sherman at Larrabee Studios in Studio City, and talk about some really important changes we’d like to see for music creators.

Many of our music laws are about a hundred years old, and are totally out of touch with how we create and consume music today.

Honor Project Documentary featured original music by composer Jermaine Stegall, singer/songwriter Adam Z Nelson, singer/songwriter Caleb Henry, and music producer Ryland Talamo. Our 60-minute documentary is just one project these guys have worked on, but today is a way we can stand up and advocate for them as music creators.

Recording Academy members played an integral role in the passage of the Music Modernization Act last year, and they will show Congress this was no one hit wonder—there’s much more that lawmakers can do to protect music and its makers.

And last but certainly not least, we’re pretty excited to have been able to give an Honor Project Documentary DVD to both Congressman Brad Sherman and Deana Carter.
